Terms of Service.

By accessing or using ptbo.ca ("the platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the platform. These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.

PTBO is a free directory of local businesses in Peterborough, Ontario. We provide tools for business owners to claim, create, and manage a public listing, and for residents to discover local businesses. The platform is provided "as is" and may change at any time.

You must provide a valid email address to create an account. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

You may only claim a business listing if you are the lawful owner or an authorized representative of that business. Creating false or misleading listings is prohibited and may result in removal and account termination.

If you choose to register or log in using a third-party service (such as Google), you authorize us to access and use certain information from that service as permitted by its terms, and as disclosed in our Privacy Policy. You remain solely responsible for maintaining the security of your third-party account credentials.

By submitting content (business name, description, photos, links, hours, contact information), you confirm that:

• The information is accurate and relates to a real business operating in or near Peterborough, Ontario.
• You have the right to submit and display the content.
• The content does not violate any applicable law or infringe any third-party rights.

We reserve the right to edit, remove, or reject any listing or content that we determine, at our sole discretion, to be inaccurate, harmful, misleading, or otherwise in violation of these terms — without prior notice.

You may not use the platform to:

• Submit false, fraudulent, or misleading information.
• Scrape, crawl, or systematically download content without our written permission.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the platform or its underlying infrastructure.
• Interfere with or disrupt the platform's operation.
• Use the platform for any unlawful purpose.

The PTBO name, logo, and platform design are our property. Business owners retain ownership of the content they submit. By submitting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display that content on the platform and in related promotional materials (e.g., social media posts featuring your listing).

The platform is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that listings are accurate, complete, or up to date. Directory listings are submitted by business owners and we do not independently verify the information.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, PTBO shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed $100 CAD.

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. Termination does not affect any rights or obligations accrued prior to termination.

We may update these terms from time to time. We will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
