Downtown Peterborough has over 2,000 public parking spaces — two garages, six surface lots, and metered street parking.

Garages use ticket-in/ticket-out gates. Pay at walk-up stations or at the exit with credit, debit, or a municipal proximity card. Free entry between 7 pm and 7 am.

Evening tip: your overnight garage entry ticket doubles as a free Peterborough Transit ride home — hand it to your driver on any city bus route.

Monthly passes available at the Parking Office in the King Street Parkade (Mon–Fri 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, 705-742-7777 ext 2802). Free overnight parking at all facilities from 7 pm to 7 am.

Street parking

Metered spots in the downtown core cost $1.75 per hour with a two-hour maximum. Meters are enforced Monday through Saturday during daytime hours only.

Free street parking: after 6:00 pm on weekdays, all day Saturday and Sunday, and on statutory holidays.

On streets without posted signs, the default limit is three hours, 24/7. Broken meters? A City Council moratorium means no tickets are issued at malfunctioning meters until they're repaired.

EV charging

The City operates Level 2 charging stations at three downtown parking facilities:

Bike parking

Bike racks are located throughout downtown along George, Water, Hunter, and Charlotte streets. Covered bike parking is available at the Transit Terminal (190 Simcoe St) and the King Street Parkade (202 King St).

Holiday free parking

From late November through December 31, the City offers two hours of free parking at all downtown meters, surface lots, and garages. The two-hour limit in the core still applies to keep spaces turning over for shoppers.
