Downtown
Town Ward
Heritage storefronts along George Street, restaurants, galleries, and small shops, with the Otonabee River and Little Lake at its edge. Waterfront patios look out on the marina. Most things downtown are within walking distance of each other.
Housing
A mix of century homes, converted heritage buildings, and newer infill. Fewer detached single-family lots than the rest of the city; more walkable density.

East City
Ashburnham Ward
Once its own town, the Village of Ashburnham, connected to downtown by the historic Hunter Street bridge. Heritage homes, boutique shops, and river views along a walkable core. Little Lake, home to Musicfest, and the Peterborough Lift Lock are both here.
Housing
Older heritage housing stock predominates near the historic core, with more varied housing further from the river.

West Peterborough (Kawartha Heights, Westdale)
Monaghan Ward
A quieter, established part of the city with about ten public green spaces nearby and comparatively low traffic noise. Home to Fleming College's Sutherland Campus and the Sport & Wellness Centre. The circa-1890 Morrow Estate (480-484 Weller St), a Category A heritage property built for industrialist and former mayor W.G. Morrow, is in this ward.
Housing
Predominantly owner-occupied family housing, mostly built between the 1960s and 1990s. Mostly three- and four-bedroom single detached homes and townhouses.

North Peterborough (Edmison Heights)
Northcrest Ward
A mature area with quiet, tree-lined streets, close to Riverview Park & Zoo and several smaller parks including Bears Creek and Edmison Heights Park. Trent University's West Bank and Traill College are also in this ward.
Housing
Predominantly owner-occupied, a mature area mostly built in the 1960s and 70s with some older and some 2000s-era construction mixed in. Mostly single detached homes, with some townhouses and small apartment buildings.

Riverview Park & Zoo, Edmison Heights, Trent West Bank / Traill College, Northview, Chemong Rd plazas
South Peterborough
Otonabee Ward
A mix of older residential pockets and newer townhouse development, plus a smaller riverside enclave south of Lansdowne St with private water access to the Otonabee River. Lansdowne St itself is the city's big-box and medical corridor. Morrow Park, across from the Memorial Centre, anchors the area's green space.
Housing
A wider mix than most wards, from older infill to newer townhouse builds, with the riverside pocket standing apart on price.
