## About

Hiawatha First Nation, located on the north shore of Rice Lake in Otonabee Township, has been a vibrant part of the Peterborough area since its reserve was officially designated in 1828. This Mississauga Ojibwe community is rich in culture, upholding ancestral teachings and hosting events like their Annual Traditional Powwow. Visitors can also explore the ancient Serpent Mounds, a significant historical site with earthen mounds built nearly 2000 years ago.
